Every great business starts with a belief.
For Botthms, that belief was simple: recovery should not be a luxury reserved for elite athletes. It should be accessible to everyone.
Botthms was founded in 2019 by former professional rugby player Renaldo Bothma while playing for Harlequins in the United Kingdom. Having experienced the demands of elite sport firsthand, Renaldo saw the critical role that recovery played in performance, longevity, and overall wellbeing. At the same time, he recognised a gap in South Africa’s wellness and recovery industry.
His vision was to build a brand that could change the way South Africans approached recovery, helping people feel better, perform better, and live healthier lives.
The foundations of Botthms were built on relationships that stretched back many years. Renaldo and Henno first crossed paths in 2010 while playing rugby together at the Lions. What started as a shared passion for sport evolved into a friendship built on common values, family, health, and community.
Years later, as Henno watched his children excel in sport, he witnessed firsthand the impact that proper recovery had on performance, energy levels, and overall wellbeing. Those experiences sparked deeper conversations between the two friends about a much bigger opportunity.
What if the same recovery tools used by professional athletes could be made available to everyday people?
What if recovery wasn’t just about sport, but about helping busy professionals, parents, entrepreneurs, and communities feel their best every day?
In 2025, Renaldo and Henno joined forces to expand Botthms beyond a recovery product brand and transform it into a complete wellness experience.
Together, they developed a vision built around three simple principles: Restore. Recharge. Renew.
A place where people could step away from the pressures of daily life, invest in their health, and experience the benefits of world-class recovery and wellness solutions.
Driven by Henno’s passion to create a wellness destination for the West Rand community, that vision became reality with the launch of the first Botthms Wellness Hub.
After months of planning, preparation, and dedication, the flagship Botthms Wellness Hub opened its doors at Randburg Golf Club on 8 June 2026.
More than just a wellness facility, the Hub represents the beginning of a movement. A movement focused on helping people live healthier, happier, and more balanced lives through accessible recovery and wellness experiences.
And this is only the beginning.
The Randburg Hub is the first of many. As Botthms continues to grow, our mission remains unchanged: to bring world-class wellness experiences to communities across South Africa and help more people Restore, Recharge, and Renew.
