What it does

The five screening measures your medical aid recognises — blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, BMI and waist circumference — taken by an accredited practitioner in a booked twenty-minute slot, then talked through with you properly instead of handed over on a slip.

Five numbers that tell you where you actually stand.

  • Blood pressure, taken properly and explained
  • Cholesterol and blood glucose by finger prick
  • BMI and waist circumference
  • A practitioner who talks you through what the numbers mean
  • Qualifies for your medical aid wellness benefit
The science

These five measures are the standard screening set because together they catch the things that develop quietly — raised blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and blood glucose carry no symptoms until they are advanced. A twenty-minute screen is the cheapest early warning available.

Who it's for
01

Anyone with a wellness benefit

Most plans fund one Health Check a year. If yours is available, tick the box when you book and the appointment is free.

02

People who keep putting it off

Twenty minutes, booked, at a set time. Nothing about it resembles sitting in a pharmacy queue hoping someone is free.

03

Training hard and want a baseline

Blood pressure and lipids matter as much as your body composition. Pair it with an InBody scan for the full picture.

Session timeline
01
Book a slot
Pick one of the Wellness Day dates and a twenty-minute time. Bring your medical aid membership number and your ID.
02
Prep
No fasting needed. The finger-prick tests are read as random measures, so eat normally beforehand.
03
The screen
Blood pressure, two finger pricks, height, weight and waist. Around ten minutes of measurement.
04
The conversation
The rest of the slot is your practitioner explaining each number, what is in range, and what to do about anything that is not.
05
Afterwards
You leave with your results. Book again next benefit year, or sooner if something needs watching.
